Seminar on “Energy Efficiency Initiatives”
Capital University of Science and Technology Islamabad, “American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers” (ASHRAE) Student Branch organized a seminar on “Energy Efficiency Initiatives” in collaboration with Energy Conservation Fund (ECF), National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (NEECA), Ministry of Water and Power, Government of Pakistan, on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:30 am in Auditorium A-1.
ASHRAE Student Branch Advisor, Engr. Saif Ullah, welcomed the guests. The seminar started with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran by Mr. Raza Abbas. Ms. Madeeha Khan introduced the speaker, Engr. Asad Mahmood who is serving as Manager Technical at Energy Conservation Fund (ECF), National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (NEECA).
Engr. Asad Mahmood introduced Energy Conservation Fund (ECF), National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (NEECA). He discussed all the milestones in the journey from Energy Conservation Commission (ENERCON) to NEECA in detail.
He presented the various energy efficiency initiatives taken by ECF-NEECA. He introduced the new “Pakistan Energy Labeling Scheme” and its implementation in fan industry of Pakistan. He described the importance of Energy Audits in industry and role of engineers as Energy Mangers, etc. He also elaborated many other initiatives NEECA has taken so far to promote culture of Energy Efficiency in the country. He explained the ways engineers can participate and help improve energy efficiency in local industry.
The seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Saif ur Rehman, Head of Department (Mechanical Engineering). A souvenir was presented to the speaker by Prof. Dr. Saif ur Rehman. The seminar was attended by a record number of 134 students and faculty members. Certificates of participation were awarded to all the participants of the seminar by NEECA.
