MOSS (Measure of Software Similarity) is an automatic system for determining the similarity of programs. The main application of MOSS is detection of plagiarism in programming classes. The algorithm behind MOSS is a significant improvement over other cheating detection algorithm. In response to a query, the Moss server produces HTML pages listing pairs of programs with similar code. MOSS also highlights individual passages in programs that appear the same, making it easy to quickly compare the files.
Keeping in view the significance of MOSS in context of faculty development, Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) organized “Two Hours Hands-On Session on MOSS” on Monday, 15th August, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Instructions Lab-III, M-Block. The workshop was held specifically for the faculty members of Computer Science (CS), Software Engineering (SE) and Electrical Engineering (EE) Departments.
The faculty members from various departments attended the session. The event lasted till 01:00 PM including the Q/A session. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Omaid Ghayyur, CS Department, CUST. The session ended on a high note and proved to be a great source of practical knowledge for the participants.
