Professional Development Center (PDC) at CUST is rigorously working to upgrade/enhance the skills and competencies of the academic and non-academic staff by organizing workshops/training sessions, with the mandate to improve the overall institutional quality. In this continuation, PDC conducted a workshop on the subject “Office Management” on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at B-Block workshop room. Dr. Ahsan Mahmood, Assistant Professor Faculty of Management & Social Sciences joined as the resource person for the said workshop. Dr. Ahsan has a track record of almost 13 years of teaching experience, four years of overseas experience in the areas of Human Resources and Administration as well as Customer Services.
The workshop content focused on the aspects of effective time management, self-management, importance of communication skills in office activities and creative utilization of mind skills. The workshop was conducted with the aim to orient and make aware mid-career administrative staff of the CUST about managerial skills/strategies, required to be used for effective disposal of their official tasks. The participants of the workshop included 12 non-academic staff members from various administrative offices including; Examination, Registration, Admission, GSO, Library, IT, FM Radio, Accounts, VIS and ORIC.
The resource person briefed the participants that the key towards effective office management lies in self-management, tasks prioritization & planning and productive communication. The resource person and the participants shared their views and experiences on how to cope with office tight deadlines, minimize stress and maximize success and Manage paperwork and regular meetings efficiently. In the end, feedback related to key takeaways of the workshop was collected from the participants. The feedback data depicts that the participants of the workshop were overall satisfied with the content of workshop and the knowledge gained. Moreover, majority of the participants were of the opinion that the training improved their understanding and ability of office workload management, self-management and coping with the social and environmental pressures. Few of the participants were of the view that the workshop will help them to overcome procrastination resulting in enhancement of their office productivity.
In the closing ceremony the participants were awarded with course completion certificates by Dr. Ahsan Mahmood. The workshop was concluded with a vote of thanks to the resource person and participants.
