“CUST organizes flagship Pakistani Conference in Collaboration with HEC”

Capital University of Science and Technology in collaboration with Higher Education Commission and IEEE Islamabad section organized 13th International conference on emerging technologies on 27th and 28th December 2017 at HEC. The whole conference was a two days activity divided into 12 technical sessions with a scope covered new and exciting technologies with 17 differentresearch domains, thereby captured interest of a large audience. The conference targeted research presentations by academic and professional researchers. The conference also included several invited talks from well renowned academicians whichenabled participants to learn about the latest trends in technology. The event started on 27th December 2017 by the Vice Chancellor CUST Professor Dr. Mansoor Ahmad who gave a brief introduction about the conference and Capital University of Science and Technology Islamabad’s contribution in the whole process. He also emphasized on the importance of industry academia relations in organizing such activities. Subsequently, Professor Dr. Amir Qayyum, Organzing Chair ICET 2017 addressed the audience and briefed them about the role of IEEE Islamabad section in overall organizing activity as he also represented the IEEE Islamabad Section as Chairman. Then the Executive Director, HEC Dr. Arshad Ali address the participants and appreciated the efforts of organizing committee. He discussed the efforts made by the Higher Education Commission for the betterment of the education system in Pakistan. The Chief Guest was Engr. Jawed Salim Qureshi, Chairman PEC while addressing the audience stated that holding of the conference actually depicts CUST’s commitment towards industrial linkage. As an engineer, he highlighted the importance of research activities and contributions it can make towards the development of our country. He stressed on the fact that academia needs to get out of their cocoon of office and labs and outreach our industries. He added that industrialists need to give due regards to the academicians as only a strong synergy between industry and academia can guarantee the promotion of our value-added exports. After that conference activities went under way. In every session, there were two sessions chairs and 6 presentations. At the end of each session, certificates were given to the session Chairs and the presenter of each paper.

After two days of 62 presentations in total, finally the event was brought to a close on the evening of 28th December. At the beginning professor Dr. Aamer Iqbal Bhatti, General Chair ICET 2017 gave the conference report as he apprised the audience about the whole two day activity. He also informed the audience about the selection criteria for all submitted papers, the review criteria included significance of the problem, novelty, clarity, completeness, and accuracy. He applauded the hard work of organizing team and their tireless endeavors in making this conference a great success. The Chief Guest, Chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad praised the performance of all the participants as he acknowledged the fact that without these Conferences, it is very difficult for the industry to reach academia and only through solid partnership this goal can be achieved. He also added that this conference will go a long way in providing the platform for upcoming researchers to present their work for the betterment of the society. He urged the students to dream in order to bring change for a better Pakistan. He gave away the shields for best student paper and best professional paper. The shields were then distributed among all the organizing committee as the event was brought to a close.
