World NGO Day 2018-Pakistan Celebrated at CUST

Volunteer in Service, Directorate of Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST) in collaboration with The World NGO celebrated World NGO Day on February 2018 at CUST. More than hundred organizations from social and development sector participated in the event.

A National Conference on “Greater Good though volunteerism” was also organized at Capital University of Science and Technology in which the speakers discussed the role of NGOs and state of volunteerism. Six sessions of the conference were attended by the representatives of the NGO, faculty members and students of the University. The Conference was inaugurated by the honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Mansoor Ahmed who encouraged this collaboration between academia and social sector. He also expressed that youth should participate in these kinds of events and makes them a civic leader.

Chief Guest, Dr. Saeed Elahi, Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent also appreciated the joint efforts of the University and NGOs. He appreciated the efforts of the NGO World and CUST for organizing such an important event. He emphasized on social work and contribution to make the world more safer and better place to live.

Goodwill Ambassador of NGO day in Pakistan, Mr. Zafar Iqbal strongly call for networking amongst the organizations and educational institutions. Director VIS Mr. Abubakar Siddique presented glimpse of volunteer work done by the students of the University. Academicians, Experienced NGO practitioners, experts, consultants, social workers and representatives of regulatory bodies delivered their thoughts and shared experiences.

Besides National Conference Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan his excellency Mr. João Paulo Marques Sabido Costa, inaugurated Exhibition in which more than 85 NGOs, Government Departments, Service Providers, Institutions participated and displayed their innovative projects and showcase their exceptional work, reading, promotion material, success stories, challenges and future plan. Almost 4000 visitors participated in exhibition. As an outcome of the event different Organizations and Institutions signed mutual MOUs, agreements and joined hands to deliver for betterment of society by complementing each other. On the sideline of event, a job fair was also organized to connect students with social sector./
