Dr Syeda Marriam Bakhtiar is done her PhD in Human Molecular Genetics, from National Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, a School of Biotechnology at that time Associated with Quaid I Azam University. She has also worked on Mental Retardation as Research Associate in Wilhelm Johansen Center for functional Genomics, PANUM Institute, University of Copenhagen, and has research experience in Microbial Genetic Analysis pipeline at Department of Bioinformatics, Federal University of minas Gerais, Brasil. She is implementing integrated Molecular Genetics and Genomics approaches to understand the complexities of the inherited genetic diseases, their characterization at the molecular level and strategies for control and prevention. Similarly, in infectious diseases, Particular interest is in pathogen-host interaction in analyzing the genomic data (sequencing).
Introduction of the group
Our research uses Molecular Genetics and computational biology approaches to understand the complexities of the inherited genetic diseases, their characterization at molecular level and strategies for control and prevention. We are also interested in infectious diseases, causative microbes and corresponding immune responses by the host. Our research group also works on application of Bioinformatics and Computational biology approaches to analyze and interpret the vast amount of genomic data available on public databases and utilization of this data for its full potential to progress our scientific understanding focused on health and disease.
