Integrative BioSciences Research Group

Dr. Sahar Fazal is the Head of the Integrative Biosciences Research Group. She has been actively engaged in academia and research for more than 15 years, leading multidisciplinary initiatives in biological and computational sciences.

As the Head of the Integrative Biosciences Research Group, Dr. Sahar oversees diverse research projects spanning evolutionary relationships, protein modeling, biological pathways, resistance management, molecular and medical entomology, microbiology, and systems biology. Her work integrates experimental and computational approaches, leveraging systems biology to model complex biological interactions, predict functional networks, and understand regulatory mechanisms at multiple scales. Through interdisciplinary research, she addresses critical challenges in biotechnology, biomedical sciences, and environmental sustainability, contributing to advancements in disease control, bioinformatics-driven drug discovery, and microbial ecosystem management.

Under her leadership, the research group fosters innovation through interdisciplinary collaborations, advanced bioinformatics applications, and translational research with real-world implications. She is committed to mentoring the next generation of scientists, securing research funding, and contributing to the global scientific community through impactful publications and knowledge dissemination.

The Integrative Biosciences Research Group at Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, was established in December 2015 with the aim of advancing scientific research across multiple disciplines within the biological and computational sciences. Since its inception, the group has been actively engaged in cutting-edge research, fostering innovation, and addressing contemporary challenges in the field of life sciences.

The research group focuses on a diverse range of areas within biological sciences, including molecular biology, microbiology, entomology, genetics, and biotechnology. Their work extends beyond traditional wet-lab research to incorporate computational biology, utilizing bioinformatics tools and data-driven approaches to explore complex biological systems.
