QEC FUNCTIONS

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at CUST functions as the central body responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the University’s quality assurance framework. The QEC is headed by the Dean/Director, who reports directly to the Vice Chancellor and serves as the principal liaison with external regulatory and accreditation bodies. In addition to coordinating institutional quality initiatives, the Dean/Director QEC oversees internal academic audits to ensure systematic compliance with established standards.

PUBLIC CONFIDEANCE

The QEC is entrusted with safeguarding and enhancing public confidence in the quality and academic standards of degrees awarded by the CUST. It conducts regular reviews of teaching, learning, and assessment practices across all disciplines to ensure consistency, relevance, and excellence. Furthermore, the QEC evaluates academic affiliations and collaborative arrangements with other institutions to ensure that program standards and quality management processes remain effective and aligned with institutional objectives.

QUALITY STANDARDS

A core function of the QEC is the establishment of clear, transparent, and measurable quality standards that serve as benchmarks for institutional reviews and performance evaluations. In this regard, the QEC develops and maintains a comprehensive qualifications framework defining the expected learning outcomes, competencies, and attributes associated with various academic levels, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs. Complementing this framework, the QEC formulates detailed program specifications that articulate the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies students are expected to acquire upon successful completion of each academic program.

COMPLIANCE TO INSTITUTIONAL GOALS

The QEC also designs and implements robust quality assurance processes and evaluation mechanisms to ensure that academic provision, research activities, and staff development initiatives consistently meet institutional goals and regulatory requirements. These processes support continuous curriculum enhancement, faculty performance improvement, and the promotion of scholarly and research excellence.

EFFECTIVENESS OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

In alignment with national higher education quality frameworks, the QEC ensures that all institutional quality assurance policies and procedures are fully integrated with the standards and guidelines prescribed by relevant regulatory and accreditation authorities, thereby contributing to the sustained improvement and credibility of the University’s academic programs.
