The objective of this course is laboratory investigation of human pathological conditions through microscopic examination of histological sections and body fluids and biochemical testing to detect and identify specific changes induced by a disease in a cell, tissue or body fluid. These concepts would be taught in the context of certain specified diseases.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO)
CLO: 1. Identify and interpret disease-induced changes in cell and tissue architecture in pre-stained histopathological slides.
CLO: 2. Detect and interpret disease induced physicochemical changes in the body fluids through microscopic examination and biochemical testing.
CLO: 3. Understand the principles, techniques and clinical significance of biopsies and cytologic studies.
