Mr. Omer Zia (Human Resource Manager, PepsiCo, Hydri Beverages) was invited as a guest speaker on 14th May 2020 for a virtual session on developing a sound skillset to survive the tough competition in these times which was hosted by the Office of Corporate Linkages, CUST. Mr. Omer highlighted that once, there were domain specific specialists, however, in today’s time it is mandatory for everyone to be adaptive, and develop a multi skillset in order to survive. He also emphasized that a higher GPA is not the only indicator of success. A graduate’s competitive edge will depend upon

He said that many companies have an increased need of hiring fresh graduates and the students need to reach out to pharmaceutical companies, online digital platforms as well as educational setups for employment opportunities. He added that a graduate should be able to develop a sound resume that attracts the employers and familiarize himself with the CV assessment online tools and indulge in freelancing projects. He said that if this uncertainty prevails, how the world is adapting will become a lifestyle. He encouraged the graduates to bring an institutional change in their surroundings by first adapting themselves and then inspiring others to do so as well by agility, apt strategizing and realistic risk assessment. In the end he told the graduates about the online hiring process of PepsiCo and encouraged them to apply for upcoming Management Trainee Officer Job openings at PepsiCo.
