Dr. Majid Ali

Professor/HoD Civil Engineering

Dr. Majid Ali has an overall 20 years of rich teaching, research and professional industry experience with a total of around 214 publications including 38 Impact Factor journal papers having cumulative ISI impact factor of 229. He is basically a civil engineer (Professional Engineer, Pakistan Engineering Council, PEC) having qualifications of bachelors with gold medal, masters with highest position and doctor of philosophy with five impact factor journal publications. He is an HEC (Higher Education Commission Pakistan) Approved PhD Supervisor. He is an active reviewer for many RD funding proposals etc for National Science Centre Poland, Elsevier (one of world’s largest publisher), KU Leuven (Belgium), HEC and Pakistan Science Foundation. He was included in list of Young Productive Scientists of Pakistan. He acted as program evaluator from PEC for the accreditation of bachelors of civil engineering and allied disciplines at various institutes across country. He has been a member of engineering curriculum review and development committee for updating civil engineering national curriculum on outcome-based education. He is also convener of University Health, Safety and Security Committee at CUST. Before joining academia, he worked as structural design engineer having ten years of association with NESPAK, one of leading consultants of Pakistan.

Dr. Ishtiaq Hassan

He has an outstanding professional educational career and remained position holder in B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD degrees earned from UET Taxila. He has good presentation skills and command on English language and has passed CSS Examination held by FPSC. He believes in shaping immature minds into mature ones as a Teacher by listening to students, answering them professionally. Inculcating ethics, respect, and a will to do what is needed are the lessons given to students besides nurturing them with required and latest developments in the field of civil engineering as per OBE (Outcome Based Education). He has vast Administrative experience throughout in his professional journey starting from leading a section of engineering design team at the start of professional life; then acting as Project Manager (leading and controlling activities of number of design teams and dealing with client and contractors); acting as Head of the civil engineering (CE) department at CUST and as Director DSE (Directorate of Sustainability and Environment) CUST. Thus, Stability and leadership are the qualities proven from doing services in one Industrial (NESPAK) and one Education (CUST) organizations. He has successfully executed accreditation visits of PEC and HEC.

Dr. M. Usman Farooqi

Additionally, his recognition as an HEC Approved Supervisor is a testament to his expertise and valuable contributions to the academic community. Moreover, his impactful role as Deputy Project Manager at Frontier Works Organization (FWO), a prominent contractor in Pakistan, exemplifies his leadership and project management skills, leaving a lasting imprint on significant public infrastructure projects. Dr. Farooqi's multifaceted achievements reflect his persistent commitment to advancing education, research, and development and contributing to the overall aims of the organization and society at large.

Mr. Iqbal Ahmad

Mr. Iqbal Ahmad has more than 6 years of rich experience, including teaching under the outcome-based education system and field experience in structural analysis, design, and evaluation. He is currently working as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), Islamabad. His main areas of teaching at the undergraduate level include Engineering Mechanics, Structural Analysis I & II, Plain and Reinforced Concrete I & II, and Architecture & Town Planning. In addition to teaching, he also manages various administrative tasks within the department.

Mr. Talha Bin Tahir

With more than eight (08) years of experience, Talha Bin Tahir is currently working as “Lecturer” in Department of Civil Engineering, Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), Islamabad Pakistan since December 2019. The main area of teaching, at undergraduate level, include structural analysis, reinforced concrete design, steel structures design, Earthquake resistant design of structures etc. He is involved in different administrative roles at departmental level. Besides teaching and administration roles, he is also involved in research activities and supervised many undergraduate final year projects. Before joining academia in 2016, he has worked in various design and consulting firms at the position of “Structural Design Engineer”. Key responsibilities included lead engineer on design projects, monitoring resources and maintaining progress of the projects, analysis and design of structural members, preparation of design reports, monitoring and checking drawings, monitoring and checking of Engineer’s cost estimates, negotiating modifications with architects and consulting engineers, advising and liaising with project stakeholders and consultants.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the Military College of Engineering (MCE), NUST. He has a total teaching experience of three years. His Bachelor’s research focused on structural analysis using SAP software, while his Master’s research specialized in materials. He has one publication in a non-impact factor journal.
