Capital University Arranged PEP National Policy Conference on “Fiscal Policy Response to COVID-19: Case of Pakistan”
The Directorate of Sustainability & Environment at the Capital University of Science & Technology along with the Partnerships for Economic Policy Network (PEP-NET) and International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Canada, organized the PEP National Policy Conference on the topic “Fiscal Policy Response to COVID-19: Case of Pakistan”. The event was held on March 28, 2022.
Dr. Saira Ahmed gave the opening presentation on the topic and also moderated the event. The honorable speakers included Mr. Faheem Sardar, Senior Policy Specialist at the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Mohammad Ali Gulfaraz, Director and CEO of Bank of Khyber and Dr. Arshad Hassan, Dean, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, CUST. The speakers discussed the findings presented by PEP Pakistan Team and appreciated the thorough findings and simulations about the key aspects of pre-covid19 and post-covid19 fiscal relief measures. Moreover, they also discussed the issues pertaining to the persistent shortcomings in fiscal policy of Pakistan.
The audience benefitted from the discussions which led to a very engaging Q&A session at the end of the event. The guest speakers were given a vote of thanks by Dr. Arshad Hassan who later distributed shields among the guests. Dr. Jaleel Ahmed, Head of Department, Department of Accounting & Finance also graced the occasion. The event concluded with a networking coffee session with the Vice Chancellor CUST, Dr. M. Mansoor Ahmed. The guests appreciated the custom-built green campus of CUST and thanked the Vice Chancellor for the opportunity to interact with students and faculty.
