ExcITeCup 2019
JSPark Society at Department of Computer Science, Capital University of Science and Technology has organized its annual event entitled “ExcITeCup” with the slogan Excel in IT on April 13, 2019. The event is based on different creatively challenging activities for enthusiasts from fellow universities located in Islamabad and other cities of Pakistan.
This is the 7th episode of “ExcITeCup.” The event attracted brilliant programmers, young innovators, programmers, entrepreneurs, poster designers, poets, photographers, and e-Gamers from all across the country.
7th ExcITeCup 2019 offered 9 competitions, such as:
- Quiz Competition
- On Spot Programming Competition
- E-Gaming
- Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
- FIFA 19
- AppThon Competition
- Poster Designing Competition
- Software Project Exhibition
- Photography Competition
- Table Tennis Competition
- IT-Mushaira Competition
This year the participants came from all diversified geographical areas of Pakistan which included urban, as well as rural areas. Twenty major universities affirmed their participation in ExcITeCup, which included 121 teams and around 450+ participants from different parts of the country. The event is definitely getting popularity throughout the nation. This is evident from the large participation from national universities. The event offered a unique platform for students from different universities to come together in the field of computing. Participants broadened their horizons by attracting bright minds and challenging them to apply their knowledge, imagination, excitement, and creativity.
The main objective of this event was to provide a platform to the students belonging to the field of computer science and software engineering, showcase their talent with their peers, and to reward outstanding individuals, teams, and universities. It was a great opportunity for them to display their skills and ingenuity. It also helped them to prove their determination and fortitude.
Inauguration Ceremony
The colorful episode of ExcITeCup was officially started with a ribbon cutting ceremony from Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mansoor Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, Capital University of Science and Technology, Islamabad. The ceremony was attended by university officials, faculty and judges. The inauguration ceremony followed the recitation of Holy Quran and a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Aamer Nadeem, the convener of ExcITeCup. He embraced and obliged the participant teams from various universities obsequiously. He also conveyed the objective of event to the guest participants, and provided the details of all competitions. The chief guest of this ceremony was Prof. Dr. Abdul Qadir, Dean Faculty of Computing, CUST. He graced the ceremony with his presence. Later the conductors of different competitions explained the proposed venue and time of the competitions individually in front of the audience. The inaugural session encapsulated by serving Hi-Tea and refreshment to all attendees.
Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony was graced with the presence of Mr. Saleem Rafik (Chairman & Co-Founder Open Source Foundation Pakistan (OSFP), CEO OpenWare Business (OWB)). The closing ceremony once again proceeded with the recitation of verses of the Holy Quran. Prof. Dr. Nayyer Masood, HoD-Computer Science presented the summary of the whole event. He acknowledged the zest and enthusiasm of all participant teams with equal gusto and appreciated their cooperation in smooth orchestration of all competitions. He also thanked the JSPark society members, colleagues and students for the hard work and efforts they put in to make this event successful.
This was followed by the address from the chief guest. He congratulated the winners of the event and motivated the students to make great progress in their fields of studies. The chief Guest shared his precious words with the attendees.
After that, winning announcements of the event were made by Dr. Muhammad Tanvir Afzal which led to the distributions of various prizes by the honorable chief guest, Dr. Nayyer Masood, and the Convener of the event.
Winning participants of different universities were presented with shields, prize money and certificates along with the IT Cup. However, Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) has remained the recipient of the IT Cup for the year 2019. In the last, Prof. Dr. Nayyer Masood presented the shield to the chief guest.
